" حرة" meaning "free" is used to honor Syria’s emergence from decades of repression under the Assad regime; a period marked by silenced voices, displacement, and resistance, and symbolizes the reclaiming of dignity, freedom, and self-determination by the Syrian people. This serves as a symbol for an ummah who believe in freedom, justice, and the right of all people to be free from their oppressors.
