1930s Prison Border Pigpen Shirts - Deep Navy x Mat Black
From Victorian era curiosities to early 20th century equestrian and motorcycle wear to rare WW2 era items - Black Sign garments are beautifully constructed, with a shared identity and aesthetic cohesion running through the collection to a degree we rarely see in brands focusing on reproductions & recreations. The Pigpen Shirts are based on modified military CPO shirts from the 1930s, with the name "Pigpen" itself being a very Black Sign homage to the Masonic cypher. Unlike other CPO shirts from the era, this features a flat hem, and two lower hand pockets that have been pattern-matched onto the front of the garment. It blends a few other unique details in for good measure as well - a western back yoke, padded elbows, and triple button cuffs at the end of each sleeve. It's made from a thick wool-blend fabric that mixes recycled wool/nylon yarns for the warp and wool/angora yarns for the weft, with 100% cotton trims on the inside for extra durability. Woven in Japan's Bishu region, an area with a long history and specialization in wool products, it's thoroughly brushed for a maximally soft hand and slightly hairy texture across its face.
